ISLAMABAD: Shahid Afridi, a former Pakistani skipper, wants to set up a cricket academy in Azad Kashmir to get the children of Kashmir into the cricket game.
Speaking at a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony here at a local hotel on Tuesday between the Kashmir Premier League (KPL) and the Shahid Afridi Foundation, Afridi said he was part of several leagues but wanted to be part of the KPL.
It is an honour for me to be this league’s brand ambassador. I’m going to take children from Kashmir to cricket and set up a cricket academy there. Strong talent will be sponsored by the Foundation,” he added.

“I’m going to do my hardest to do as much for KPL as I can. For any KPL franchise, my heart needs me to play. The condition I have put on myself to play in KPL is that in Kashmir a cricket academy will be created,’ he said.
“I urge everyone to totally support KPL. Aside from athletics, I will also be employed in the health sector in Kashmir.
