After suffering a fall at his property, Australia fast bowler James Pattinson was ruled out of the third test against India in Sydney with bruised ribs, the team said on Monday.
After the Boxing Day Test, which India won by eight wickets, Pattinson suffered the injury while on “approved leave” from the team’s hub in Melbourne.
The team said in a statement that he would not be replaced in the squad and would be further tested until the fourth and final Test in Brisbane.
In the first tests, Pattinson was not playing, with selectors sticking to Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood’s pace attack.
Ahead of the third test that begins at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Thursday, the series is tied at 1-1.
