QUETTA: The Accountability Court of Quetta on Friday turned down a bail plea of Balochistan Development Authority’s (BDA) previous chairman Ata Mohammad Jaffar in the Reko Diq corruption situation filed by the anti-graft watchdog.
The National Responsibility Bureau has accused Mr Jaffar of triggering a loss of trillions of rupees to the national exchequer by his corruption.
Accountability Court Judge Munawar Ahmad Shahwani in his judgement claimed that although there was no bar for an accused to file an application under Area 265-K of the CrPC at any type of stage of the procedures for his discharge/acquittal, as well as keeping in mind the realities as well as circumstances of the case, the court obtained adequate powers to acquit any kind of charged at any phase.
