OKARA: When officials raided a cockerel battle scene on Friday, up to 35 persons, 27 of them nominated, were booked in a case for treating the police and snatching cash and cell phones from them.
The Dipalpur Saddar patrolling police rushed to the Abadi Joyianwali on a tip off, where hundreds of people were watching a cockerel fight, as the first information report was reported by assistant sub-inspector Zafar Iqbal.
As the police arrived at the scene, scores of people, including alleged killers Abdullah and Abdur Rahim, stoned the police, snatched cell phones and cash from constables Aslam and Salamat Ali, and pulled off constable Tehsin Javid’s uniform.
Dipalpur Saddar reinforcements arrived at the scene, but the perpetrators escaped, leaving behind eight bikes at the scene.

The police named the suspects, including Fateh Muhammad, Amjad, Naeem, Sarwar, Razzaq, Saleem, Mushtaq, Rukhsana, Zainab, Amna, Fajjan, Maqbool Bibi, Ayesha and Noor Bibi, with the aid of village chowkidar, in addition to 15 unidentified accomplices.
Eight bikes were impounded by the police.
ACCIDENT: A man was killed and another sustained multiple injuries in a car-trailor crash on GT Road on Friday.
Mustafa from Khanqa Dogran was named as the deceased.
