ISLAMABAD: The issue between Small Dam Organization (SDO) and Capital Development Authority (CDA) over arrival of 2,000,000 gallon every day (mgd) water to Islamabad from Rawal Dam will be settled as the urban office has paid the extraordinary Rs32 million to the SDO.
Prior to reestablishing the inventory of two mgd from the dam, the SDO had been requesting that the CDA first clear the Rs32 million contribution.
“The longstanding issue with respect to rebuilding of water from Rawal Dam has been settled as the CDA a couple of days prior satisfied the obligations to SDO. Presently, there is no obstacle in the arrival of water,” said Special Assistant to Prime Minister on CDA Affairs Ali Nawaz Awan.
Mr Awan, who is additionally convener of a subcommittee of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Water Resources, disclosed to Dawn that in the wake of getting the two mgd from Rawal Dam the CDA could defeat water shortage issue in ‘I’ arrangement areas, essentially I-10.
“Area I-10 and G-10 are gravely influenced by water deficiency. The CDA will be approached to zero in on these two areas in the impending summer,” he said.
CDA authorities said the SDO will give two mgd crude water to the CDA and the last will treat it at its treatment plant prior to delivering to the areas.
Rawal Dam obliges the selective water needs of Rawalpindi. The CDA used to get two to four mgd till the 1990s however later the inventory was ended.

In any case, a year ago CDA Chairman Amer Ali Ahmed chose to get the inventory reestablished. The matter was taken up by the subcommittee which guided both the gatherings to settle the issue as Islamabad was confronting lack of water.
CDA authorities said a joint visit of authorities from both the associations was made to the water supply as of late during which the CDA gave over a draft consent to the SDO.
“Presently, the SDO is concluding the arrangement. Ideally, in the following not many days it will endorsed their draft and afterward delegates of both the associations will consent to the arrangement prior to delivering water for CDA,” said an official, who is essential for the CDA group drew in with SDO for arrival of water.
