BERLIN: A major strike by train chauffeurs severely disrupted Germany’s train network on Wednesday, taking its toll on visitors at the height of the nation’s summer season holiday season and also aggravating supply chain problems.

The industrial action, which began on Tuesday on cargo solutions, infected the rest of the network on Wednesday, with just “25 percent of far away trains” in operation, according to Deutsche Bahn.
