A day after his speech in which he said that Imran Khan’s “indebted” Minister of Defense Pervez Khattak gave a clarification on Sunday stating that he was “government could not function even for a day if he (Khattak) wanted it [not to]” to Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The minister also said during the speech he made on Saturday that he was “competing against the entire country” adding, “if I do [mischief], Imran Khan’s government would not function even for one day but I am indebted to him”
“I do not only handle government officials but also deal with members of the opposition. Everyone respects me.”
Khattak explained in a tweet today that he “clearly mentioned in my speech for the locals of my village in Nowshera that I’m sincere & indebted to Imran Khan”

The by-election in Nowshera district’s PK-63 constituency is expected to take place on Feb 19. After the death of the member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Mian Jamsheduddin Kakakhel of the ruling PTI, the PK-63 seat fell vacant.
Earlier this month, the PPP declared that its candidate, Liaquat Shabab, had withdrawn from the by-election in favour of Ikhtiar Wali Khan, the PML-N nominee.
In the by-election, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) candidate Mufti Hakim Ali Haqqani had already declared the PML-N candidate’s support.
