SAHIWAL: The Khyber Mail halted for 40 minutes at the Sahiwal Railway Station after an exchange of harsh words between the driver and the officer.
As Peshawar-bound Khyber Mail entered Sahiwal from Karachi, the eyewitnesses said that a fight broke out over some technical matter between the driver and the guard in charge. The driver, who was not pleased with the work of the guard, declined to operate the train with him (the guard) on board and called for a new guard.

The guard, on the other hand, declined to board the train, claiming that he was unwilling to abandon his job. The driver left the train and stood on the platform on one of the benches.
Sources said the local station master and other station workers begged the driving seat from an engine driver present there, but he declined.
The passengers and workers of the railway station did their hardest to settle the conflict, but the driver and the guard were not willing to hear their appeals.
The matter was then submitted to Lahore Central Control, which issued the train driver a written order to operate the train. The sources said an investigation had been conducted into the incident.
A senior PR official acknowledged the incident while talking to Dawn, adding that the authorities concerned had ordered the start of an investigation into the matter.
