RAWALPINDI: University students on Thursday gathered to demonstrate their design skills as well as took part in an eco-marathon with cars that they had made themselves.
The event entitled Shell Eco-Marathon 2021 was arranged by Shell Pakistan. Students from leading Pakistani universities showed performance of their self-built lorries from two classifications: ‘Prototype’ (Battery powered) or ‘Urban Idea’ (Gas run).
The vehicles were reviewed by a panel of experts.
Group NUSTAG from National College of Sciences and Innovation (Nust) College of Design and Mechanical Design (Nust-EME) was identified as the winner of ‘Gasoline Urban’ group whereas in the ‘Battery Electric Model’ category, team Hammerhead from Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Design Sciences as well as Innovation (Giki) protected the top spot.
The panel of judges stated team Urban from Giki, runners-up in the ‘Fuel Urban’ classification, while team Envision from Pakistan Navy Design University (PNEC), Karachi ended up being runners-up in the ‘Battery Electric Model’ classification.

Another team from the NED College Karachi, NED Racers had actually been welcomed to exhibit their fuel-efficient automobile.
