ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, former Finance Minister Miftah Ismail, former Managing Director of Pakistan State Oil (PSO) Sheikh Imranul Haq, former Chairman of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) Uzma Adil and others were indicted by an accountability court here on Monday in relation to the LNG terminal plant.
Also indicted was Mr. Abbasi’s uncle, Abdullah Khaqan, who is in quarantine at home because of Covid-19. The court used video connection facilities for the defendants based in Karachi to frame charges against them.
However all the people charged pled not guilty.
Judge Azam Khan subsequently ordered the prosecutor of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to provide facts to prove the charges against them.
At the behest of the defence, at the next hearing on November 19, the court summoned three witnesses, Abdul Rashid, Mohammad Hassan and Mohammad Nawaz.
Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is accused of being involved, at exorbitant prices, in the award of the LNG Terminal-I contract to M/s EETPL at Port Qasim, Karachi.
