After the first snowfall of the season, several parts of northern Pakistan especially the Galyat region as well as the Murree hill station, wore a white sheet that plummeted in several places below the freezing point.
The residents restricted themselves to their dwellings, with the onset of a freezing cold. Similarly, outbound guests are limited to hotel rooms. Any, though not without wearing warm clothing, go out. In a white setting, blanket-clad tourists are seen enjoying drinking hot drinks outdoors.
In Ayubia, as winter reached its climax after the first snowfall on the Murree and Galyat ranges, the severity of the cold increased. In various sections of Galyat, however, power outages have persisted, including Koza Gali, Khanspur Road, Bakot, Nathia Gali Road, Tajwal Road and Sawar Gali.
Galyat is Pakistan’s popular tourism destination, as visitors come down here in large numbers to see the snowfall during the winter season.
However, residents also face difficulties because of the unavailability of sufficient services for both the local population and the visitors.
In the midst of cold winds, thick clouds and snowfall, the cold snap in Murree, known as the Queen of Hills, has also worsened.
On Mall Road and other tourist spots enjoying the charming cool weather, visitors in warm clothes are seen.
