TOBA TEK SINGH: On Sunday, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) filed a complaint against a gang for depriving a man of Rs800,000 by means of cell phone theft.
Malik Mahmood Azam, a resident of Chak 282-JB, Gojra, said in his complaint that the fraudsters called him on his cell phone, identifying themselves as TV game show members.

Azam said he was told that in the game show he had won Rs1 million, five tola gold and a motorcycle and needed to submit Rs700 via mobile money transfer on a cell number.
He said that he did as he was told to get the ‘prize’ and then the fraudsters kept stealing varying sums from him via a series of phone calls.
Finally, Azam reported the issue to the FIA. During the investigation, the agency investigators came to know that the complainant had paid Rs800,000 to the fraudsters so far.
He told the agency that he had to sell his property to make payments to the fraudsters known as Muhammad Ramzan, Nasreen Bibi, Kahloon Bibi, Ali Akbar, Muhammad Asghar, Muhammad Ismail and Muhammad Aslam and some others through bank accounts and phone numbers.
A case against the suspects has been reported by the FIA under sections 14,16 and 17 of PECA, 2016 and 109,419,471,468 and 420 of the PPC and sections 3/4 of AMLA 210.

Raids, an official said, were being carried out to apprehend them.
