ISLAMABAD: The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) on Friday approved removal of 22 level crossings for the loop section of Karachi Round Railway (KCR) to assist in complimentary motion of trains.
At a conference chaired by Priest for Finance and Earnings Shaukat Tarin, Ecnec took into consideration and also accepted a recap provided by the Planning Commission concerning building of facilities for removal of level crossings for KCR’s loophole area.
Rationalised expense of job estimated at Rs20.715 bn.
The job, sponsored and also performed by the Ministry of Railways, envisages building and construction of flyovers as well as underpasses along the KCR course to eliminate 22 level crossings. The rationalised cost of the task has been estimated at Rs20,715.368 million on a cost sharing basis. The project will help with complimentary motion of KCR trains.
Ecnec also accepted a referral presented by the Planning Commission that the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) will be authorised to take into consideration projects where Ecnec provides decision to accept the project with the instructions of rationalisation of price.
If the rationalisation workout results in downward revision in price, such jobs will be accorded approval by the CDWP as well as standing record would be submitted for examination of Ecnec chairman. In case of upward expense rationalisation or alteration, the job will be re-submitted before Ecnec for factor to consider as well as authorization.
