ISLAMABAD: Special Economic Zones (SEZs) economic operations will expand work opportunities for local skilled and unskilled workers, Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Monday.
The 7th meeting of the Board of Approvals for SEZs was chaired by the prime minister.
PM Khan said industrial production was essential to economic growth and guided prioritisation of the supply of utility services to SEZs, including electricity and gas.
He emphasised that the government was committed to providing investors with easy-to-do business.
The conference was told that 19 SEZs had been notified in the region.
SEZ Zone Business Entry and Sale/Lease of Plot Rules, 2020 is supported by the Council.
The meeting approved the introduction of the online SEZ Management Information System, which will digitalize and streamline the approval process. It will also serve as a single window to ensure accountability for investors.
The SEZs Board also accepted the award of Siddiqsons Tin Plate in Balochistan and Operation Long March Tire in Sindh SEZs with the status of Single Enterprise Special Economic Zones.
