During his short tenure, the former CCPO had his fair share of scandals. Shoaib Dastagir, the then-serving Punjab IG, was suspended in September last year after he stopped working in protest of alleged comments made by Sheikh.
Sheikh had reportedly spoken out against the provincial police chief during a meeting with senior police officers. Dastagir allegedly met with the prime minister and the chief minister of Punjab and requested a probe of the suspected wrongdoing and corrective action by the CCPO. He had otherwise requested to be moved.
