LHC bars government to procure sugar: LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) carries Tuesday barred the government from acquiring sugar at Rs 80 per kg from millers.
The plaintiff had kept that the government does not have any authority to fix sugar rates. The LHC summoned markets assistant, walking stick commissioner and also agents of the Federal Examination Firm (FIA) on Wednesday.
It is pertinent here to state that the Punjab government had actually repaired the market rate of sugar at Rs 85 per kg.
A notification by the markets department said the ex-mill cost currently is Rs 95 per kg as well as the retail price is around Rs 100 per kilogram which is unfair by any criterion. It was claimed that ex-mill cost of sugar can not go beyond Rs 80/kg.
