LHC halts sugar sale in Ramazan Bazaars: LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday directed the rural government to stop the sale of sugar in Sasta Ramazan Bazaars and also make sure accessibility of the sweetener at Rs85 per kg at local markets.
A bench of the LHC was listening to a case concerning lengthy lines up of sugar buyers in Ramazan Bazaars.
A law officer educated the court that neighborhood markets encountered a lack of sugar due to its sale in Ramazan Bazaars.
“Under what legislation all sugar was offered in Ramazan Bazaars?” the court asked, asking for the product to be sold to the commoner at Rs85 per kilogramme.
Establishing Ramazan as well as Jumma Bazaars suggested the management has stopped working to regulate rates at regional markets, the court observed. The law officer claimed these Bazaars were indicated to give relief to the inadequate.
The court claimed that this is not the matter of sugar just yet of all important commodities. “The lack of a device to fix prices of essential food products is the cause of rising cost of living,” it kept in mind.
The Lahore commissioner said Ramazan Bazaars substantially profited the inadequate. The poor were become beggars, the bench retorted, asking why food things are not offered at less costly prices at people’ front door.
