Opposition leader Yousaf Raza Gillani’s conference: ISLAMABAD: PPP’s Yousaf Raza Gillani, who was earlier chosen the Leader of the Opposition in Senate today, is holding a news conference.
“The Parliament of the voice of the people of Pakistan and also we have to not neglect this voice,” said the former prime minister during journalism meeting, validating the PPP’s position to choose its participant as the Senate Opposition leader.
Gillani said the PPP had held a meeting of its Central Exec Council where it had looked for the viewpoint of its legal counsels on whether the Senate political elections could be postponed or not if Opposition lawmakers surrendered or not.
He stated the party took its decision of contesting the by-elections as well as the Us senate elections to the Pakistan Democratic Movement’s (PDM) online forum where the Resistance alliance chose to accept the PPP’s proposition.
“You saw exactly how they participated in the by-elections as well as in the Senate political election,” he said. “You observed the advantages as well; how the PDM won all elections [versus federal government candidates],” he said.
The previous prime minister said PPP chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari had actually advised the PDM to tire various other alternatives, such as a no-confidence motion against the federal government, before considering resignations from the assemblies.
