HARARE: Solid half-centuries in the first 50-over game played at the Harare Sports Club on Tuesday by Captain Javeria Khan and all-rounder Aliya Riaz set a clear 178-run victory for Pakistan Women’s cricket team over Zimbabwe women’s team.
After the tourists were put into bat by Zimbabwe captain Mary-Anne Musonda, the two contributed a superb 157-run stand for the fifth wicket that lifted Pakistan to 255 for 6.

In the contest, Javeria top-scored as she made 81 out of 116 balls, while in her 87-ball 74, Aliya blasted six fours and a six.
Nomvelo Sibanda of Zimbabwe took two wickets for 28 runs and was the bowlers’ choice for her side.
Pakistan’s bowlers then dominated the second half of the game and Diana Baig and 19-year-old Fatima Sana’s opening spells brought three wickets for 36 to send Zimbabwe’s hosts struggling.
Zimbabwe was further dented by Nida’s impeccable bowling that gave her 2 for 9 in seven overs. In the 35th over, the hosts were bowled out for 77. Javeria was named as the best player-of-the-match for her match winning innings.
