LAHORE: While the three most important Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) bodies have yet to be completed, Ehsan Mani, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and Wasim Khan, Chief Executive, are currently on annual leave in London.
As of now the offices of national selection committee chairman and national cricket committee chairman are empty, although no office holder has been confirmed to work in any of the six provincial cricket associations.
The PCB did not bother to name the president of the National Cricket Committee with the same excitement it displayed in the potential extension case of Wasim Khan. Since Sept 6, when Iqbal Qasim stepped down after forming disagreements with the Board over domestic cricket affairs, the position has been vacant. Last month, however the PCB was swift to ask Wasim Khan if he was interested in another three-year tenure. In February 2022, his present term expires.
If reports are to be believed, three men — Intikhab Alam, Saleem Yousuf, and retired Col Naushad Ali — were interviewed by the PCB for the position, with things reportedly looking bright for Saleem Yousuf.
The head of the selection committee, meanwhile, is also undecided. To concentrate on the coaching role, Misbah-ul-Haq decided to leave the job. Stuff remain uncertain after almost a month and a half as to who will chair the selection committee. And while the names of Mohammad Yousuf and Mohammad Akram were doing the social media rounds, it now appears that the position of the chief selector will be assigned to Mohammad Wasim.
