The opposition Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) scheduled to march to Pakistan’s Election Commission on January 19 will be a rally and not a ‘assault,’ President Maulana Fazlur Rehman of the alliance said on Monday.
Rehman said that PDM representatives were democratic people who adopted the Constitution and law after a meeting of the PDM steering committee in Islamabad. We want democracy to be free in the country because it is the provision of the Constitution and of the law,”We want freedom of democracy in the country because that is the demand of the Constitution and the law,”
He said the meeting debated the plan for Tuesday’s protest outside the ECP and it was agreed that “the PDM leadership will enthusiastically stage a protest demonstration in front of the Election Commission regarding the foreign funding case.”
Rehman called the case of foreign financing “the biggest scandal in Pakistan’s political history” the core character of which he said was Prime Minister Imran Khan.
