LAHORE:Pakistan Muslim Organization – Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Saturday sought post-arrest bail from the Lahore High Court (LHC) in possessions beyond means and a money-laundering query started by the National Responsibility Bureau (NAB) versus him.
Asif contended that during his 22-day physical remand with NAB, he was not challenged with any type of straight or circumstantial evidence that would create an instance of possessing possessions disproportionate to his well-known incomes.
The application, under section 24 (d) of NAO, filed by respondent Aide Director NAB Muhammad Ikram, for looking for physical remand of the petitioner did not reveal any incriminating material sustaining the alleged compensation of a criminal offense under area 9 (a) (v) of NAO.
” Mere possession of property/assets did not constitute an offence under area 9 (a) (v). It is the failure to describe the resource of funds that aims towards the compensation of the offence. The questions is being conducted on conjectures and assumes for rope the petitioner into baseless and unfounded allegations” declared Asif in his request.
” In the absence of any probable reason to deny the thorough explanation supplied by the petitioner regarding his ownership of possessions and income, this situation is one of more inquiry and also post-arrest bond must be approved”, the petitioner additionally included.
Asif further stated that he had offered the participants with a description of the different income sources that sufficiently justify the procurement of the properties presently had, and which were owned by him in the past.
” Being rejected of the description, with no reasonable ground, is itself proof of the approximate exercise of power on part of respondents hence warranting disturbance by the court and also give of post-arrest bond.”
The elderly PML-N leader made the participants NAB, its DG, and other authorities associated with his post-arrest bond.
He hoped that the court would admit to his application and that he is provided post-arrest bond in the stated issue.
NAB Lahore had additionally summoned the managing supervisor of International Mechanical and Electric Business (IMECO), a UAE-based international firm, about the possessions beyond ways case against former government priest Khawaja Asif, in January earlier this year.
