The armed assailants succeeded in fleeing.
The police said they had a complaint against the unknown attackers registered and begun investigations.
After the former Fata’s unification with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the extension of the Police Act to the city, the slain Gula Jan acted as the first SHO of the newly formed Jamrud police station.
The event in Jamrud over the last couple of weeks is the third of its kind. Earlier, in Shah Kas and Ghareeza cities, police officer were attacked.
The police arrested an Afghan national along with a local accomplice for having been involved a week ago in the shooting of a police patrol. In that incident, no one was injured.
Some three weeks ago, in Jamrud’s Samar Bagh district, a school watchman was also killed in a similar manner.
