LAHORE: Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, irritated at the government for withdrawing funding for the Wazirabad Institute of Cardiology, threatened the ‘unruly’ treasury members on Monday with putting off the session if they tried to cause havoc in the chamber.
[Five] ordinances are going to expire today. And if you don’t quit making mayhem, I’m going to extend the conference, leaving all the official business unfinished,’ he said.
“With the members of the treasury interrupting the proceedings in response to the anti-government sloganing of the opposition, the speaker told them to “let me address the opposition.

He was displeased with the non-release of funds for public service programmes accepted by the chamber. Expressing dissatisfaction, he reported that, despite being properly approved by the assembly, the budget for the Wazirabad Institute had not been released for the past six months.
Parvez annoyed that budget for Wazirabad hospital not issued despite being approved by house
What is the point of this house if the government is not enforcing its decisions? When you are not involved in the execution of the decisions, is it not easier to close it down? “Asked him.
The finance department was a big impediment to the execution of public welfare programmes, he added. He regretted that he had already spoken about the issue with the chief minister, but the matter was still unresolved.
When Parvez Elahi was the chief minister from 2002-07, the Wazirabad hospital was built, but both the subsequent PML-N governments kept the project stuck, and Tehreek-i-Insaf Pakistan even placed it on the backburner by not releasing funds for it.
The Punjab Sugar Factories (Control) (Amendment) Ordinance 2020, Punjab Local Government (Amendment) Ordinance 2020, Company Profits (Workers’ Participation) (Amendment) Ordinance 2020, and the Punjab Overseas Pakistan Commission Ordinance 2020 were later extended by the house.

With a delay of more than two and a half hours from its scheduled time, the Punjab Assembly session began. Questions relevant to the labour department were addressed by Minister Ansar Majeed Niazi.
The meeting was later adjourned on Tuesday afternoon (today).
