LAHORE: Chief Minister Usman Buzdar inaugurated the Insaf Medicine Card on Sunday and issued the cards to hepatitis, AIDS and TB patients.
At the ceremony held at the Chief Minister’s Office, Minister of Health Dr Yasmin Rashid, SACM Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, Secretary of Primary & Secondary Health, and other officials concerned were present.

Mr. Buzdar said the first phase of the project to offer free drugs to patients with hepatitis, AIDS and TB will cover 9,862 patients with AIDS, 23,560 patients with hepatitis and 70,047 patients with TB.
He said a simple protocol to encourage the patients had been introduced. Under this process, a patient in their respective areas will be biometrically checked along with the original ID card of the Tehsil Headquarters or District Headquarters hospital.
The Insaf Medicine Card will be given to the patient during the screening process, who will be eligible to take free medicine from the centre concerned.
Officials were ordered by the Chief Minister to set up separate desks for patients with hepatitis, AIDS and TB. A total of 174,882 patients will collect cards in 36 districts of Punjab.
