SIALKOT: Governor Reza Baqir of the State Bank of Pakistan ( SBP) has confirmed that export promotion and quick access to financing for small and medium-sized enterprises ( SMEs) are the top priorities and steps to be taken across the country to facilitate industrialisation.
Speaking on Saturday to representatives of the Sialkot SBP Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), Reza said that the economy was showing healthy patterns and that day-by-day macro indicators were getting stronger.
He said the nation was moving in the right direction to achieve stability and growth. Sialkot exporters play a key role in strengthening and growing the economy, he added, adding that, in addition to continued financial relief and soft-term, fast business-friendly loans, the central bank is promoting the trade, manufacturing and export sectors.
He said that small and medium-sized enterprises ( SMEs) were the backbone of the economy and funding schemes were being launched to develop this critical market.
Reza added that the SBP would promote the exporters and SMEs for booming up national economy by implementing simple financial schemes and trade and export based incentives for them.
SCCI President Qaisar Iqbal Baryar said Sialkot exporters were receiving annual export proceeds of $2.5 billion and the SBP deserved further incentives.
Reza inaugurated the newly built SBP building earlier.
