ISLAMABAD: The vehicle market has required government create a different policy for the promotion of local setting up of hybrid cars in addition to incentives for the suppliers to minimize dependence on imported components.
Preacher for Industries Hammad Azhar existed with this demand by Indus Motor Ltd Business Ltd Chief Executive Ali Asghar Jamali on Friday seeking an independent crossbreed automobile policy on the lines of Electric Automobile (EV) Plan authorized by the government in December 2020.
Nonetheless, resources stated that the Ministry of Industries in a recent meeting chaired by Mr Azhar has made a decision that hybrid automobiles will certainly be covered in the new Vehicle Plan expected to be finalised in the coming months. The existing five-year policy is readied to expire in June.
“The basic fad everywhere is that countries move towards the hybrid vehicles as electric lorries require significant framework development such as billing points and a new set of vendors as well as fixing mechanics,” claimed a senior official of the ministry.
Talking with media persons after satisfying the markets preacher, Mr Jamali said that it will certainly take up to 2 years for local assembly of hybrid vehicles after the policy is authorized, including that there are a series of steps required to achieve road worthiness.
