Renowned Bollywood actress Shalpa Shetty has revealed that her sister Shamita Shetty had rejected Aamir Khan’s film ‘Lagaan’ for her Bollywood debut and chose Shah Rukh Khan’s film ‘Mohabbatein’.

According to Indian media reports, Shilpa Shetty’s younger sister Shamita Shetty made her Bollywood debut with Shah Rukh Khan’s blockbuster film ‘Mohabbatein’ which was released in the year 2000.
In this film, she played the role of ‘Ishika’ well, for which she also received the IFA 2001 Award for Best Debut Star.

The same year that Shamita Shetty was offered the film Mohabbatein, she was also approached for Aamir Khan’s film ‘Lagaan’ but she rejected the film ‘Lagaan’ and chose ‘Mohabbatein’ instead.
Aamir Khan’s Lagaan and Shah Rukh Khan’s Mohabbatein both proved to be blockbusters at the box office. Actress Gracie Singh was cast opposite Aamir Khan in the film after Shamita Shetty’s refusal.

Surprisingly, Shamita Shettys and Gracie Singh are both actresses who made their debut in Bollywood with blockbuster films but both failed to make their mark in the Indian film industry and rarely appeared on screen.
