New Zealand was made aware today that six members of the Pakistan touring squad have tested positive for Covid-19, now in controlled isolation in Christchurch.
Of these six outcomes, two were considered “historical”; four were verified as new.
This suggests that the six members of the squad will be transferred to the quarantine arm of the controlled isolation unit, in accordance with the procedures controlling the entry of the squad into New Zealand.
As a result, the exemption of the Pakistan team to practise whilst in controlled isolation was put on hold until inquiries were concluded.
Though this is frustrating for the Pakistan team, the findings of the testing and the steps taken indicate that the government structure is functional.
On the four times they were tested, both members of the Pakistan touring squad returned negative findings prior to leaving Lahore.
Separately, New Zealand was also made aware that on the first day of controlled isolation, several members of the Pakistan team had contravened protocols. To support them in interpreting the criteria, we will have conversations with the visitors.
In hosting foreign teams, the New Zealand considers public health and safety as paramount and is supportive of the role of the Ministry of Health and Government.
According to the details, the squad of the national team had reached New Zealand two days ago where they were tested for corona. The New Zealand Cricket Board temporarily stopped the national squad from practice.
According to Dharti News, New Zealand Cricket says that some members of Pakistan squad violated SOPZ on the first day of isolation. It is unfortunate that the corona test of the members of Pakistan squad came positive Corona has been a victim before.
