PESHAWAR: In nine districts of the province, the Pakistan Software Export Board and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board will jointly work to create software technology parks.
According to a statement released here on Monday, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was entered into between PSEB and KPITB for a wide range of partnerships to facilitate information and communication technology in the province.

Digital technology parks, including Chitral, Swat, Mansehra, Mardan, Kohat, Dera Ismail Khan, Karak, Kohat and South Waziristan, will initially be developed in nine districts of the province.
In the next step, information technology parks will also be built in other districts of the province. A ceremony to this effect was held here with Chief Minister Mahmood Khan as chief guest in the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Monday.
Attending the event included Federal Minister for Information Technology Aminul Haq, Chief Minister Ziaullah Bangash’s Advisor, Chief Minister Kamran Bangash’s Special Assistant and related officials.
The Chief Minister, speaking on this occasion, listed the promotion of the IT sector in the province as one of the government’s top priority regions. He said that government is making concerted efforts to increase people’s full facilitation, provide youth with job opportunities, ensure accountability in government sector, and improve the capability of government departments through the productive use of information technology.
He called the signing of the MoU between PSEB and KPITB a major development and shared the expectation that the partnership would represent a landmark in the province’s promotion of the ICT industry and the digital economy.
According to the MoU, through its initiative, PSEB will assist KPITB in the sustainable development of the IT industry and in the capacity building of local entrepreneurs and freelancers in the province.

Likewise, both organisations will work closely to strengthen relations between academia and the information technology industry. Via its activities and virtual meetings with Pakistani embassies, consulates and foreign firms, the PSEB can help with the marketing and promotion of the province’s information technology industry globally.
It will partner with KPITB to provide global and international marketing and advertising platforms for the province’s information technology industry.
