After coming under fire from terrorists in the Pash Ziarat region of South Waziristan, two soldiers accepted martyrdom on Thursday, a statement by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
Terrorists targeted a security force checkpoint in the city, according to the military media arm, and during the exchange of fire, Havaldar Matloob Alam and Sepoy Suleman Shaukat were martyred and another soldier was injured.

A clearance operation is in progress in the region, ISPR added.

The attack comes on a day when Prime Minister Imran Khan is on an official visit to Kabul. Islamabad has consistently asked the Kabul government to stop militants from entering into Pakistan from the other side of the border. Security forces’ border posts regularly come under threat from terrorists.

Earlier, during an exchange of fire with terrorists in the district’s Shakai town, a Pakistan Army officer was martyred. A 25-year-old resident of Lachi, Kohat, Captain Abdullah Zafar, accepted martyrdom when terrorists shot at his patrol force. The troops were commanded by Captain Abdullah.
