KARACHI: A court of sessions acquitted on Tuesday Uzair Jan Baloch, chairman of the outlawed Peoples Amn Committee, and another individual in a murder case.
In 2012, the suspected Lyari kingpin was charged with kidnapping and murdering Noshad, along with Taj Mohammad, alias Tajoo; Mohammad Yousuf Baloch; Zafar Baloch; Shahid Rehman; Noor Mohammad, alias Baba Ladla; Mohammad Shahid and Habib Jan Baloch.
The case came before additional district and session judge (South) Faraz Ahmed Chandio on Tuesday when acquittal appeals moved by two defendants were taken up.
Due to the lack of evidence against them, the judge cleared two of the defendants, including Uzair, of the charges.
The judge also ordered the prison authorities, if their detention was not necessary in any other situation, to release them immediately.
A case was reported at the Kalri police station under Sections 302 (premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Uzair Baloch was previously created in the middle of strict security before the prison court when co-accused Shahid was on bail. The judge rescinded his parole and issued the promise.
The same court also acquitted Uzair Baloch and other accused persons on 7 January in two identical cases involving attempted murder and police incidents due to lack of evidence.
